Annual herbs, up to 65 cm tall, pubescent. Stem climbing, slender, pubescent. Leaves up to 5.5 cm long, paripinnate, up to 14 leaflets (5-7 pairs); rachis ending in up to 2.5 cm long hairy unbranched tendril; sometimes tendrils absent; leaflets 5-20 mm x 1-3.5 mm, narrowly oblong or lanceolate; apex acute or obtuse or truncate with a mucro, often emarginate; pubescent on whole surface adaxially and confined prominently to midvein abaxially; petioles 2-8 mm and petiolules ca. 1 mm long. Stipules ca. 5 mm long, linear-lanceolate, pubescent. Racemes axillary, shorter than leaf, up to 4.3 cm long in fruit, 2-3 flowered (usually 2) at apex of peduncle, pubescent. Flowers bisexual, zygomorphic, 5-merous, perigynous, ca. 7 mm long, white tinged with blue. Calyx ca. 7 mm long; tube 2-2.5 mm long; lobes ca. 4.5-5.0 mm long, upper two slightly shorter than the lower three, narrow, linear, pubescent. Corolla papilionaceous; vexillum ca 4.5 mm X 4.5 mm, elliptical, emarginate, shortly clawed, 2 pockets above claw; wings and keel smaller than vexillum; wings ca. 3 mm long, clawed (ca. 1 mm long), auriculate, auricles ca. 0.5 mm long, apex obtuse; keel ca. 3 mm long, apex obtuse, base narrow, adnate at apex. Stamens 10, diadelphous (9+1), vexillary stamen free; staminal sheath ca. 4 mm long, filament of vexillary stamen broad at base; anthers uniform. Ovary shortly stipitate, ca. 2.5 mm long, unilocular, 2-ovuled, placentation marginal; style ca. 2 mm long, incurved, cylindric, minutely bearded near to stigma. Legumes 9-12 mm x 4-6 mm, shortly stalked, beaked, elliptic-oblong, flat, glabrous, 1-2 seeded. Seeds ca. 5 mm long and across, rounded, glabrous, with persistent funiculus.
**In literature, legumes in this species are reported to be hairy.Since the studied specimens have 1-2 seeds per pod and in addition to other features of leaves and inflorescence this species is treated as Vicia hirsuta.
